Who is Thulani?

Thulani Nhlapo (b. 1984) is a Johannesburg based artist, who honed his craft at APS in Joburg where he studied printmaking. He constantly disrupts boundaries of visual aesthetics through renderings of colourful palate announcing visual complexities that stir emotions of his audience. He is on a constant mission to evolve.

The abstract imagenary in his work represents, the act of survival while the text, often obscure, stresses questions of identity within society – observes youth culture in and around the city with benevolent fascination following the theme of identity that we’re always changing and moving in a path of self discovery. 




In 2016 he hosted his first solo exhibition at Springs Art gallery to assist build his profile.
He also participated in many group exhibitions around Johannesburg leading to his second solo exhibition, hosted at African Flavour Gallery.
